Nicolay Dubovoy was born in Kharkov, the second largest city in the Ukraine, in 1961. His artistic talents were apparent from an early age and he was sent to an art school. After leaving school in 1978, he entered the Moscow Art University and soon began contributing to national and international exhibitions. His first job following graduation was as a theatre artist. Although he now works from his own studio in Kharkov, he has travelled to Holland and Poland to complete commissions.
Nicolay has developed his own vigorous and distinctive style, using the inherent properties of the medium to give his pictures depth and texture. Using bold brush strokes and vibrant colours each of his paintings captures a moment of vitality. His inspiration comes from nature, be it a sweeping majestic landscape or a beautiful bouquet of flowers. Nicolay is a member of the Ukrainian Union of Artists and is divorced with one son.
