The artist Gerald Coulson artist of egArt.co.uk

  Limited Editions

After leaving school, Gerald Coulson began a career in the aircraft industry as an apprentice engineer after which he served eight years in The Royal Air Force. He moved on then to work as an engineer with British European Airways at Heathrow Airport and it was there that he pursued his hobby of painting and drawing. His combined knowledge of aircraft engineering and his drawing ability took him into the world of Technical Illustration for service manuals for Civil and Military aircraft.

Entirely self-taught, Gerald's painting technique developed and following the publication of his originals as Fine Art Prints, his work became highly sought after. This success enabled him to begin a full-time painting career in 1969 and since that time, a great many of his works have been published as both Open and Limited Edition Prints and have been marketed throughout the world.

His work is exhibited widely both in the UK and the USA, where he has had several one-man shows. The Fine Art Trade Guild polls have voted him into the Top Ten Best-selling Artists no less than fourteen times, three of which have been Number 1s for his landscape and aviation subjects. His work has been published exclusively by Solomon & Whitehead for over twenty years and to add to an impressive collection of landscape and aviation subjects, Gerald has turned his hand to Formula 1 Motor Racing. Following a trip with his publishers to see the 1991 British Grand Prix at Silverstone, his interest was fuelled and he began what has developed into a hugely successful collection of Limited Edition Prints.

Not only is Gerald a founder member of the Guild of Aviation Artists, he is four times winner of the Flight International Trophy for aviation painting. He qualified for a pilots license in 1960 and is still active, flying mostly vintage aircraft.
