His distinctive, stylish, contemporary artwork strikes an immediate chord with the public. Since the launch of his artwork 18 months ago 11,000 of his limited edition images have been sold, representing 25 sell out editions. Doug Hyde’s work has become so desirable and collectable that some of his early images are now exchanging hands for up to 400% their initial recommended retail price. “The investment potential may be great but intrinsically I want people to be buying into my work because they emotionally connect with it.” says Doug. “I feel passionate about my paintings and the possibility that it will enhance the viewer’s mood and maybe improve their lives makes my creative journey worthwhile”. Doug Hyde was born in Bristol in 1972 and became aware of his artistic talent at an early age. Through his school and college education he concentrated on the technical side of drawing and painting, but after graduation he was in no doubt as to his chosen career as a professional artist. Doug Hyde prefers to introduce his distinctive artwork on a large scale, in order to achieve maximum impact with each piece. He also enjoys operating in plenty of space, thus allowing himself enough physical freedom to express the creative energy that is key to his fresh, contemporary style. His unorthodox use of pastels applied with the fingers and thumbs or even the side of his hand or wrist allows him to create highly communicative and engaging images that make an immediate and lasting impression on the viewer. Inspired by his own emotional responses to life, Doug Hyde’s intention is to provoke an emotional response in others; his success in this aim can be seen by the huge impact of his newly released collection has made on the British art scene.
